Know You Enemy – Analyize Your Competition Part 1
You wouldn’t go into battle unless you knew who you were fighting against would you? The same is true for the online world. Before you launch any campaign on the Internet you need to make sure you know exactly who your competition is, what they are doing right and what you can do to improve on it. Over the next few days we are going to look at some excellent ways to analyize your competition.
First – Find keywords people are searching for.

Second – Find out who your competitors are and size them up.
This is an absolutely crucial move if you ever wish to have a successful online venture. You have done your keyword research, found out what people are searching for. Now you need to find out who exactly is ranking for those keywords. Ever heard the saying don’t bring a knife to a gun fight? Well if you are targeting ultra competitive keywords and the competition is:
- Huge – the more competition the harder it is
- Old – Established websites are very tricky to beat (assuming their SEO is well done)
- Fierce – In ultra competitive industries the competition will have money to promote their websites.
After this you will know who your competition. Next we will look at how to analyze their on page factors and how to use them to your advantage.
